“To stop the flow of music would be to stop time itself–incredible and inconceivable.”
~ Aaron Copland

“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, and flight to the imagination.”
~ Plato
“An education of the mind without an education of the heart is no education at all.”
~ Aristotle

Where live band music was once a common occurrence, it is now a rare event.  The Golden West Pops is a non-profit organization whose charter purpose is "the enlightenment of its members through a program of music education."  This enlightenment through music, however, is not reserved only for its members. The 50+ members of the organization perform at least a dozen concerts a year entertaining hundreds of people who may not have many opportunities to hear a live concert band.  Venues include county fairs, street fairs, carnivals, and charity benefits and are often without any recompence.

Golden West Pops is an adult community concert band.  Most members are well beyond their school years.  However, almost every one of them began in a school music program.  Participating in a school music program has been proven through research to increase attendance and academic performance in our schools.  However, if there are no role models to motivate these students, no opportunities to expose them to live concert band performances, how will they ever choose to participate themselves?

The Golden West Pops is fueled by three precious commodities, talent, enthusiasm, and funding.  The first we can cultivate, the second we provide in droves, the third comes only from dues that every member must pay, occasional donations from our concert hosts, and your generosity.

Please choose to give what you can to support the Golden West Pops.
